8 Austin post-production studios working in 2026, from full-service finishing houses to an editorial collective and a Streamland dailies site

Introduction
Austin has eight post-production studios worth a call in 2026, ranging from full-service houses that cut, grade, mix and deliver features to smaller editorial-led studios serving agencies and brands. Two of them, TBD Post and Stuck On On, hold most of the city's long-form feature, documentary and streaming credits.
The market is compact. Most local post houses run a handful of suites and sit close to the agencies and production companies they serve, while larger work often splits between Austin and Dallas. Picture Shop, part of Streamland Media, lists a dailies and remote colour review site at Austin Studios on East 51st Street, which gives productions shooting in the city a link to a national post network. Client lists lean on Texas names such as Dell, H-E-B and Frost Bank, and SXSW brings a rush of festival finishing to the same rooms each spring.
Every studio here showed an active Austin address on its own site when checked in October 2026. Eight met that bar, so the list is shorter than our pages for larger cities. It runs in no fixed order, since the right house depends on whether you need a single finishing partner for a feature or an editor with a colour and mix team behind them.
The best post-production studios in Austin
1. TBD Post
Independent, partner-owned · East Austin · tbdpost.com
TBD Post was co-founded in 2012 by editor Ted Griffis and colourist Brandon Thomas, who still run it as managing partners from a purpose-built 6,000-square-foot facility on Manor Road. It covers creative editorial, colour, VFX, sound design and mixing, ADR, finishing and deliverables for features, series and commercials. The studio lists HDR and Dolby Vision certification for grading and Dolby Atmos certification for mixing.
Credits include Terrence Malick's A Hidden Life, The Long Game with Dennis Quaid, and the Apple TV+ documentary Fathom, which won a 2022 Emmy for sound. Commercial clients include Bacardi, Fender and EA Sports. Long-form projects run through a dedicated head of production, which helps when a film needs post supervision as well as the rooms.
2. Stuck On On
Independent · Austin · stuckonon.com
Stuck On On was founded in 2007 by Allison Turrell, sound designer Lyman Hardy III and colourist Parke Gregg, with audio and colour under one roof from the start. It was among the first Austin studios to transcode RED footage and author DCPs, and it now handles colour, audio post, VFX, finishing and deliverables. The studio was Emmy-nominated for its sound work on the documentary Tower.
Credits include Richard Linklater's Boyhood and Apollo 10 1/2, Jeff Nichols's Take Shelter and Mud, the Fox and Hulu series Krapopolis, and the documentaries Zurawski v Texas and Hope for the Guadalupe. Clients include Netflix, Warner Bros, HBO, PBS, Dell, H-E-B and SXSW. It does not list editorial as a core service, so most projects arrive with a locked cut.
3. Charlie Uniform Tango
Independent, Dallas-headquartered · Central Austin (Marathon Boulevard) · charlieuniformtango.com
Charlie Uniform Tango is a Dallas production and post company with roots in the early 1990s and a second studio at 4004 Marathon Boulevard in Austin. Its post team covers editorial, colour, VFX, audio, motion graphics and 3D, and the company also offers production and brand strategy.
Clients include Amazon, McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Ford, Samsung, AT&T and Lexus. Its work has screened at Sundance and SXSW and been recognised at the AICP and Addy awards. Much of the senior team is in Dallas, so ask which artists will work from the Austin studio.
4. BLK MKT Studios
Woman-owned collective · Baylor Street · blkmktstudios.com
BLK MKT Studios is a woman-owned post facility at 404 Baylor Street that houses several member companies under one roof: BLK MKT Digital for editorial and VFX, Cut+Run for offline editorial, Finland Finish for colour and finishing, Digital Domain for audio, and Perfect Form for animation, design and 3D. Together they cover the full commercial post chain without leaving the building.
Clients named on its site include GSD&M, Third Ear, the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Lottery. Cut+Run, whose Austin office shares the address, appeared on Ad Age's Best of 2026 list for its editorial network. Since each service is run by a different company, agree up front who holds the schedule and the final deliverables.
5. Revelator
Independent · East Austin · revelator.tv
Revelator is an Austin-headquartered production company, with offices in New York and Los Angeles, that keeps editing, colour, sound mixing, VFX and motion graphics in-house. It is led by executive producer Chris Ohlson and director-partners Matt Muir and Jonn Herschend.
Recent work includes the Delta Locals series for Delta Air Lines, a comedy campaign for Frost Bank and lifestyle content for AG1, and its client list takes in Adidas, Toyota, TikTok, Capital One, Nike and Levi's. It suits brands that want one company to shoot and finish, rather than agencies looking for a stand-alone post house.
6. Carve Editorial
Independent · Downtown · carveeditorial.com
Carve Editorial describes itself as an award-winning, full-service post studio built around creative editing, working from Rio Grande Street downtown. Its portfolio covers national commercials, brand films, short and feature films, web content and tabletop work.
The studio also offers on-site editing during shoots. Its site does not name editors, clients or individual credits, so ask for a reel matched to your category and confirm which finishing services are handled in-house.
7. Cut to Black
Independent · South Lamar · cuttoblack.com
Cut to Black is a post-production studio on South Lamar Boulevard working across films, commercials and branded documentaries. Its service categories cover editing, colour, sound design, VFX and finishing.
It is a smaller shop than the facilities above, which can suit a branded documentary or independent film that needs one team from first assembly to delivery. The site keeps credits light, so ask for recent titles and who will work on each stage.
8. Picture Shop Austin
Streamland Media · Austin Studios, East 51st Street · pictureshop.com
Picture Shop is the post-production arm of Streamland Media, with facilities in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Toronto, Vancouver and London. Its Austin site at 1901 East 51st Street, home of Austin Studios, offers dailies and remote colour reviews.
That makes it useful for series and features shooting in Austin that will finish with Picture Shop elsewhere: dailies are processed near set, and the director and cinematographer can review the grade with a colourist in another city. Final colour, VFX and mastering happen at the larger Picture Shop facilities.
What to look for in an Austin post-production studio
Start with which stages are done in-house. Some Austin studios cut, grade, mix and deliver under one roof; others are strongest at colour and audio and expect a locked edit; BLK MKT splits the work among member companies sharing a building. Ask for the list of services each project will use and who runs each one.
Check delivery experience against your spec. A streaming series or feature needs HDR or Dolby Vision mastering, Atmos or 5.1 mixes, and platform QC. TBD Post lists Dolby Vision and Atmos certification, and Stuck On On has authored DCPs since its early years. Commercials put more weight on fast turnarounds and many cutdowns for different channels.
Ask where the people are. Austin houses often share work with Dallas, New York or Los Angeles, either through a second office or remote sessions. That can work well, but you should know whether your colourist and mixer are in the Austin room. Texas incentive rules can also matter: local post spend may count toward in-state spending for the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, so check with the studio and the Texas Film Commission.
Finally, agree how media and notes will move. A project passes through editorial, colour, VFX and sound, and each handoff needs the right files, proxies or originals, and a clear record of which version the client approved. Studios that settle this before turnover spend less of the schedule chasing material.
How Fabric helps post-production teams
Fabric gives editors, colourists, mixers and producers one workspace for project media, documents and client feedback, with AI search across all of it. A post project draws in camera originals, proxies, EDLs, stems and notes from several people, and keeping them together cuts down on handoff questions between stages.
Heavy media sits in Fabric's cloud drive, which streams files on demand so they take no local disk space and open without a full download. Shared team folders always show the latest versions. There is more on working this way in how to edit video without filling your SSD and what a proxy workflow is.
Uploaded interviews and rushes are transcribed and become searchable, with clickable timestamps that jump to the moment. Search works by meaning across documents, images and transcripts, which helps an editor find a line of dialogue or a shot from a description.
For review, any file or folder can be published as a web page with password protection, and link analytics shows when each named recipient opened it. Clients can leave threaded comments through a shared link without signing up. Timestamped comments and drawing on video are coming soon to annotations; today, highlights and comments work on PDFs and documents such as cue sheets and delivery specs.
Password protection and link analytics are included on Pro and Team plans, and Team plans add self-writing docs that keep a page per client up to date. See plans for teams.
