Introduction
Austin has a compact but busy production scene, and the 12 companies below shoot commercials, brand films and branded content from bases in the city. Most are independent and director-led, and several also make documentaries and features alongside their advertising work.
Two things shaped the market over the past year. Texas passed Senate Bill 22 in June 2025, committing $1.5 billion to film and television incentives over ten years ($300 million every two years), with the first round available from 1 September 2025. Locally, Austin Studios, the Austin Film Society's 20-acre complex in northeast Austin, added LED volume capability through a partnership with Stray Vista Studios. The client base is a mix of tech companies such as Dell and AMD and Texas consumer brands such as Tito's, YETI and Whataburger, and SXSW each March brings a burst of content and activation work.
Every company here showed an active Austin base in 2026. Visual effects, colour, editorial, sound and animation specialists have their own Austin lists, so this page sticks to companies that produce the shoot. The list is unranked.

What to look for in an Austin video production company
Decide first whether you need a director-led house or a full-service crew. Companies such as Revelator, The Bear and Royale sell directors with a point of view and suit agency-led campaigns. Others, such as Merit, Bennett Creative and Sparksight, run the whole job from script to final edit and are often a better fit for brands commissioning directly.
Ask about the director, by name, and look at their own reel as well as the company's. Many Austin companies also produce documentaries and features, and the directors who make that work often bring a real-people, observational style to commercials. That suits some briefs better than others.
Check how the budget will use Texas incentives and local facilities. Senate Bill 22 raised state incentive funding from September 2025, and qualifying commercials can apply through the Texas Film Commission. Austin Studios and the city's independent stages give larger shoots space without travelling to Dallas or Los Angeles. Agree early whether your project qualifies and who handles the paperwork.
Finally, ask how footage, cuts and feedback will move between the company, the agency and the brand. Shoots now produce terabytes of camera originals, proxies, selects and versioned cuts. A clear process for where files live, how each round of notes is gathered and who signs off saves time in the edit.
How Fabric helps video production teams
Fabric gives production companies one workspace for footage, scripts, treatments and client feedback, with AI search across all of it. The commercial production setup organises each job around its brief, shoot assets, cuts and approvals.
Camera originals and project files sit in Fabric's cloud drive, which streams files on demand so they take no local disk space. Editors can open heavy files without waiting for a full download, which is covered in more detail in how to edit video without filling your SSD. Uploaded interviews and selects are transcribed automatically, so search can find a line of dialogue and jump to the timestamp.
For delivery, a folder of cuts can be published as a web page with password protection, and link analytics shows when each named recipient at the agency or brand opened it. Clients can leave threaded comments through a shared link without creating an account. Comments and highlights on PDFs and documents work today, so script and treatment notes can sit in one place. Timestamped comments and drawing on video are listed as coming soon on the annotations page.
Any folder can also become a kanban board whose cards are the files themselves, which suits tracking a cut from first assembly to final delivery.
Password protection and link analytics are included on Pro and Team plans. See plans for teams.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best video production company in Austin?
It depends on the brief. For agency-led commercials with a strong director, Revelator, The Bear and Royale Film Company have the deepest national credits. For brand films and customer stories commissioned directly, Merit Productions, Westfolk and Bennett Creative run the whole job in-house.
How much does a commercial cost to produce in Austin?
Costs vary with the director, crew size, locations and post. Austin rates are generally below New York and Los Angeles, and qualifying projects may be able to claim Texas state incentives. Ask for a bid that separates production, post and usage so you can compare like with like.
Do Texas film incentives apply to commercials?
Commercials can qualify under the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, which Senate Bill 22 expanded from September 2025. Eligibility depends on spend and crew residency thresholds, so check the current rules with the Texas Film Commission before budgeting.
Is Rooster Teeth still operating in Austin?
No. Rooster Teeth, the Austin digital studio behind "Red vs. Blue", was closed by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2024 and is not on this list.
Who handles VFX and colour for Austin commercials?
Several companies here keep editing and colour in-house, but larger jobs often bring in specialists. See the best VFX studios in Austin and the best post-production companies in Austin.
